Appeal following increase in reports of dangerous and illegal vehicle use |
||
We are appealing for information following increased reports of dangerous and illegal use of motorbikes and e-scooters both on and off-road in the Bentilee area of Stoke-on-Trent. It is illegal to use a motorbike or e-scooter on a UK public road, cycle lane or pavement without a valid license or insurance. They can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. Sergeant Will Evans, from our Stoke-on-Trent south local policing team (LPT) said: “We are seeing increasing reports of off-road motorbikes being used on the streets and on our greenways and parkland, putting pedestrians and other road users at risk.” “I would urge anyone with any information as to who is using these vehicles, or with any details which can help us identify a specific off-road bike and where they are used or stored to get in touch with us. “We are committed to taking these vehicles off the streets and using enforcement measures to protect members of the public.” To report off-road bikes and e-scooters being used in your area, call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. | ||
